The vision of the Mammoth Board Club is grounded in the heart and mind of its founder, David Smits. As a long time kayaker, canoer, and lover of the outdoors, David was introduced to the sport of stand up paddle boarding (SUP) by a friend in Whitefish, Montana.  At that life changing moment the motto “Get on Board” as the company's guiding principle, the idea of Mammoth Board was born.

David set out to promote active, balanced lifestyles for the communities of the Badger State, by creating a variety of quality, customized team-building adventures that encourage healthy living. From day one, the company's foundational mission has been to build strong, balanced, and connected individuals and communities through unique experiences for all, regardless of age or skill level.

Mammoth Board Club's community-minded values are at the heart of each and every experience, be it a design for building a stronger family unit or an effective corporate team. Since opening its headquarters in Delafield, Wisconsin in 2011, Glacier Springs Adventure Company (GSA) has worked to establish their presence and desire to serve the recreational needs in the communities of the Lake Country region. GSA strives to promote balanced lifestyles and connected communities from a platform of outdoor recreational activities.

Meet your Guide

Owner and Founder of Glacier Springs Adventure Company, David Smits, grew up in small-town Wisconsin and spent his time traveling and exploring the outdoors. Passionate about education and the environment, he received bachelor’s degrees in zoology and biological aspects of conservation as well as a master’s degree in science education. David brings over 10 years of team building experiences ranging from teaching science to designing and delivering corporate training workshops.

After building his experience as a science teacher, soccer coach, park ranger, firefighter, and corporate trainer, David began leading customized adventure trips with the goal of building stronger and more balanced teams.

Combining years of experience traveling the beautiful back-roads of the US and Europe with a strong passion for adventures, David will design customized outdoor adventures to meet your individual and team goals.
